When we received the troubling news that Arapahoe House was closing its doors leaving some of the most vulnerable individuals in our community with nowhere to turn, our board of directors saw an opportunity to help. • What felt like a holiday miracle, Aspen Center, a program of Arapahoe House, became integrated into our Miracles program. • As CEO of Mile High Behavioral Healthcare, I want to express my gratitude to the community, the Colorado Department of Human Services Office of Behavioral Health, Signal Behavioral Health Network and Arapahoe House for the immediate action, collaboration and partnership—in the midst of the holidays—to help the Aspen Center become part of our family. This prompt action enabled a seamless transition for the program and the women.
Aspen Center is a residential program for pregnant and postpartum women struggling with substance use and co-occurring mental health issues. In this safe environment, the women are supported to sustain recovery; deliver a healthy baby; keep their family together; and create a safe home for the newborn.
The support and services include
- intensive inpatient treatment
- strengthening parenting skills
- linking the women to healthcare and wellness education
- and case management
